The world of Android 3.0 tablets has become quickly crowded with look-alike products that echo the design and specs of the first Honeycomb tablet, the Motorola Xoom. Emerging from this sea of sameness are two tablets that successfully set themselves apart.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been the reigning CNET favorite when it comes to Android tablets. Impressively thin and light and blessed with a bright, colorful display, Samsung's Honeycomb slate makes the Motorola Xoom look like an antique.

Not to be outdone, Sony has finally jumped on the Android tablet bandwagon and delivered one of the most surprising tablet designs of the year. The Sony Tablet S offers the lightweight design of the Tab 10.1, but goes with an ergonomic folded-magazine design that thumbs its nose at the thinness wars.

Both tablets are offered at a base price of $499 (16GB), making them relatively pricey compared with many iPad alternatives being offered. Assuming the prices are justified, which one is the better choice? We posed this question to three CNET editors and let them duke it out in a six-round Prizefight. In the end, only one tablet is left standing.

I own this 40" 78 series Sharp Aquos TV. First said, The picture
quality is outstanding, and can be tweaked to an infinite level with all
the in depth menu settings. The speakers are on the bottom and fire
downward. I find the sound to be very good on all inputs EXCEPT for TV
where you are pulling your signal thru a coax cable. For whatever
reason sound level is way down on that input. But on HDMI, component,
etc sound level is strong and actually sounds pretty good. But to note,
this weak sound on the TV input seems to be the norm, as I have noticed
that effect on my other non Sharp flat screen TVs as well. I have my
Sharp TV sitting in an entertainment center, so that serves as an
amplifing box and pushes the sounds out in a good strong level. One
GREAT thing about this (and most Sharp TVs) is that they have the RCA
audio output jacks that can be connected to the older style receivers
that do not have the optical input.

I just plug my red/white audio cable jacks from the TV to the
matching input jacks on my receiver and like magic, there is great sound
being delivered through my stereo system. You don't even have to turn
the TV's speakers off, as the output jacks carry the signal along with
the TV's internal speakers. You can turn the TV speaker volume down to
zero without effecting the stereo's sound level, or you can turn the
TV's speaker volume up slightly and get a really cool surround type
effect.

All in all I love this TV and it's quality features. Sharp is one of
the leading LCD screen manufacturers in the world, and they usually
lead the industry in quality and innovation (Such as the Sharp Quattron
screen with the extra "yellow" pixel.)

Sharp has always made great electronics. I currenty have a 30 year
old Sharp 13" TV (with remote control) set up in our kitchen and it

still performs as well today as it did 30 years ago when it was new.

	A Display First, you'll need a 3D-ready display--whether it's a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession.
	A Source Your display may be ready for 3D playback, but you'll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system.

3D Technology Checklist

This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use the checklist below to ensure you have everything you need. 3D viewing requires:

	A Display First, you'll need a 3D-ready display--whether it's a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession.
	A Source Your display may be ready for 3D playback, but you'll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system.
	3D Content 3D content--the actual entertainment, in other words--will be played back using the source mentioned above, whether it's a 3D broadcast from your cable provider, a 3D Blu-ray Disc, or a 3D video game.
	3D Glasses For now, the vast majority of 3D HDTVs require glasses for 3D viewing. Many use powered "active shutter" glasses, others polarized "passive" glasses. You'll need one pair per viewer, and they'll have to be compatible with your display, whether they're the same brand, or a pair of "universal" glasses designed to work across brands.
	HDMI Cable To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a high-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation feature bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second), for carrying the 3D signal without any loss of quality.

I have had this Philips 22PFL4505D TV for almost a month and am completely satisfied with the performance. It is compact, thin and easy to set up--just follow the instructions on the screen after you have turned it on. The color was a little "washed out." I went into the color adjustment option and "tweaked" it a little. There is a protocol during the set-up that helps you select the color reception, however it proved not to be what I really wanted, so I did it manually. Now it is clear, sharp and very natural looking. I also adjusted the sound quality the same way. I feel this Philips 22PFL4505D TV will rank with any more expensive Sony or Panasonic for quality and reception. If you are looking for a excellent, small 22" for the kitchen or bedroom, this is a keeper. The only problem, and it is a minor one, was during the "auto-scan" process to search for TV stations. It warns that it could take as much as 20 minutes--and it did. I had to do this three times since it turned itself off after about 15 minutes twice before completing the scan. It could have been my cable supplier, but don't worry. Be patient and all will be terrific.
